Remember, Remember the 5th Of November Tickets and Dates
Remember, Remember the 5th of November with David Prior, Head of Public Services & Outreach, Parliamentary Archives
On 5 November 1605 Guy Fawkes was caught red handed in the cellars beneath the Houses of Parliament with 36 barrels of Gunpowder. Over 400 years later that date in the calendar is still associated with bonfires and fireworks.
In this Bonfire night event David Prior from the Parliamentary Archives explains the reasons behind the Gunpowder Plot, the conspirators' plans and why the plot failed. In doing so he will discuss the plot's significance and its place in the national consciousness.
At the end of the talk, 15 minutes are available for you to ask questions.
